      I injured mine and it took 6 weeks to be able to run on it again. The solution was to have my gait videoed which showed that I pronated badly on that foot and needed special shoes. No problems since.

      I use double-skin socks for walking and hiking. I got pomphlyx really badly for the first time last year and it’s not fully gone away (I suspect stress in my case is not helping). I did, however, manage to run a trail half-marathon in those socks with about 60 per cent of my feet still somewhat affected, so they were really helpful for me. I don’t know if you can get the Thyo brand in the UK very easily, but it’s these ones:

      @saffy Thanks. Really appreciate the thorough response. Think I’ll try them.

      I’m a runner and having been plagued with chronic Achilles Tendinopathy for years now, I’m prepared to take a punt on some orthotics In conjunction with other rehab I’m doing.

      Chuffed they worked for you. Fixes like that doesn’t happen very often!

      How much did you pay for the custom orthotics, if you don’t mind me asking?
