catembiParticipantEllen is right!!! If you’ve bought anything from these websites, you need to be extra careful. These crooks could potentially steal your identity and sweep your bank account clean. So, contact your bank ASAP and check everything’s okay! 🔐

catembiParticipantI bought a pair of scholl insoles and they were no good at all. I tried them for about a week and then threw them in the bin because they felt very uncomfortable to wear and hurt my feet. I bought them to help ease my plantar fasciitis but they seemed to make my plantar fasciitis worse not better. I am not going to buy any more scholl products from no on. Too expensive, cheaply made and far from comfortable!
I managed to buy some much better Footreviver insoles for half the price.

catembiParticipantUse Athlete’s foot ointment (Mycil or Boots). More effective than the powder. If it doesn’t respond, it might be some infection other than Athlete’s Foot.

catembiParticipantYou can’t be too careful with the knee, if it is unstable at all further damage is very likely. so get it looked at! My youngest son, 21, had a sore knee last year but kept doing stuff (first injury was playing football), then made it worse falling off a bike and is now just finishing 6 weeks non-weight bearing after ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair 🙁

catembiParticipantI have had numb legs after a disc issue, so much so that at one point whenever I dismounted, I would collapse. It would not be painful at that time, just no feeling or power to my legs. Once I had sat there for a while feeling would come back.
The GP was not terribly helpful, just gave painkillers and said to rest.
What turned the corner was intensive physio with a physio who was experienced in reducing impingements from slipped discs. They reckoned they could avoid surgery in over 50% of cases. It worked for me. I did 2 weeks residential, happily with a scheme I was with.
I would look for a sporting focused physio rather than a general one.

catembiParticipantThank you – lots of suggestions! Hopefully enough to instil confidence that it’s worth going back to the doctor’s. Especially interested in the cycling – he used to run a lot of half marathons, and I think that a lot of older ‘athletes’ seem to transition from running to cycling. He was considering it just as a replacement for running, but it would be fab if it actually strengthened the knee.
It’s good that there are things that can be tried without going straight for knee replacement.

catembiParticipantThank you…so it sounds as if there are things to try?
I did get him to go to the doctor once but he was fobbed off, along the lines of, you’re in your 70s, you used to do a lot of running? What do you expect? Take a paracetamol if you need to.
So if we are armed with the knowledge that there is more stuff out there, like pain clinic etc that I hadn’t known about, he can be a bit firmer.
