Surprised physio didn’t help – it more or less fixes mine every time – although mine is the ‘not weight bearing when first getting up’ version…

Depending on your footwear then gel insoles may help – I spend up to 12 hours a day walking in steel toe cap type boots and Footreviver Gel insoles go in all my boots (and wellies notoriously the worst for not supporting feet correctly).

Don’t waste your time asking non medical posters.

Go to your doctors who can examine your ankle and arrange an X-ray if necessary.

The only cure I ever found was when I waded through a stagnant pool to get access to a caravan site in South Wales. Not sure what was in the water, but my feet had lovely skin for months after.
Not exactly a cure as it only temporarily removes the flaky bits, but the dog loves licking between my toes when they’re particularly encrusted and to be honest, it does feel quite nice in a pain/pleasure sort of way – especially when she has a quick nibble…
Hope that is of help to you.

      Where on your knee?

The going down hill might be tight IT band. See a good physio and they should be able to help.

I get this a lot with my running.

My tips would be, make sure you’ve had enough fluids, magnesium spray, raise legs if possible? And my sure fire winner, rolling your calves. A foam roller if you have one or in an emergency a tin of bins or similar, wine bottle, or tennis ball which is far more portable.

I’ve also found icing my calves help too but you don’t always have an ice pack just laying around in your handbag!

I’ve done my left one before but this is the right, it’s not snapped but my entire Achilles/ankle area is pretty enormous, it’s such a crap area for healing and I know there will be no miracle cure but just looking any secret remedies people may have.

Thanks for the suggestions, I see my sports therapist weekly – I’d be lost without him! I’ve heard Plantar Fasciitis is a nightmare but fingers crossed I have no experience of that one!

I have had gait analysis previously and also bio mechanical assessment, I over pronate on the left but have neutral movement on the right and run in custom made orthotics. I think I’ve just pushed it when I should really have rested it. It’s tough decision to rest a few weeks before a half M though!

I have already had gait analysis too and run in orthotics through the right one is neutral. It’s kind of my own fault as it’s been niggling for a while but the pressure of having a half marathon looming kept me training.
