I used to get really bad ankle pain all the time when I worked as a waitress! It does get easier, I promise. I used to use a foot spa when I got home, it was utter bliss.

Support socks are a great idea. Have you tried Crocs <gasp> they weigh next to nothing and were a huge help to me, as well as being very anti-slip making them perfect for the kitchen!

My friend had surgery. She can wear ‘normal’ shoes now. Both her son and daughter have had both feet operated on. The podiatrist said bunions can be ‘inherited’ as well as caused by badly fitting footwear. I think they were all unable to ride for about 3 months.

I feel your pain. I don’t get on with footsies and I can’t wear ankle socks as I get varicose eczema. I just go sockless in the summer but I only wear flats.

I had it for about 8 months a few years back – bloomin’ painful you have my sympathies. It did eventually go away once I started wearing shoes with proper support regularly instead of my comfy Ugg boots all the time.

I broke a bone (3rd metatarsal) in my foot 3 years ago. I was given a supportive boot to wear and told to keep it weight-bearing, after the first week. It does sometimes feel very painful and I can put my finger on the spot where the break was. That happens most if I have been standing/walking a lot on it.

Nuovahealth do a cracked heel cream which works well if you put it on overnight covered with a sock, mine healed in 24 hours but then I forget to use it and it comes back, it softens the skin and does prevent the area becoming dry if used regularly, must start again as mine are dry and rough.
